Earlier reported by The Pulp and Paper Times, World largest Paper Giant- Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) is seeking land in India to put up a country's largest paper mill. APP mulls over to set up 10 to 15,000 TPD paper production plant in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is very keen on turning the coastal region into a growth engine. Over the APP's proposal and sea port project, State government's Environment Minister Sidda Raghava Rao held detailed discussions with officials concerned for land acquisition here on 6 October.
The Techno Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR) submitted by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) has identified 3,082 acres in and around Ramayapatnam as most suited for establishment of a sea port, District Collector V. Vinay Chand said soon after the meeting held to decide on the extent of land to be acquired for the project.
“Our intention is to minimise displacement of people by limiting land acquisition to the villages of Ramayapatnam, Ravuru and Chevuur,†the Collector said.
He said an extent of 2,500 acres of land close to Ramayapatnam had been sought by APP for setting up a paper mill in the district. Notification for land acquisition would be issued for the twin projects after a couple of rounds of discussions to finalise the extent of land for the purpose, he added.
“APP is known for the setting up of State-of-art plant all over the world and we will follow this legacy in India also. Our plant will be one of the biggest paper plant in India, producing paper and paper boards of all grades except the newsprint segment. We are planning to manufacture 10,000 to 15,000 Tonnes-per-day (TPD) Writing-Printing, Kraft, Copier and Paperboards of all segments.†Mr. Suresh Kilam Executive Director of APP said. Ref: The Hindu
