With the largest machine deckle, Paswara Papers is emerging out as one of the ‘BIG’ exporters

Meerut | 25th June 2020 | The Pulp and Paper Times:

The buoyancy of Indian Kraft paper in China is reaping the benefits to Indian Paper Mills. Paswara Papers Ltd is proud to have achieved yet another milestone by becoming North India's Leading Export house. “The largest deckle size of our machine is matching with the demand of Chinese corrugators. Good quality and cheap price have enabled us to export 150 containers every month to China and other countries before the lockdown imposed in India” Said Mr. Deept Agarwal (in above photo), Director, Paswara Papers Limited.

â€œThe imposition of lockdown in India had subtracted our export sale by 50 percent in March. Still, we managed to restart our production facilities in just five days and resume the export activities. We have exported 200 containers (4200 Metric Tonnes) of paper to China and other countries up to June 2020. We have good orders for coming months also,

â€œThe market for High RCT packaging paper looks positive in the Asian Countries and we expect more exports in the future. We extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the whole team of Logistics, Customs, Shipping Line, Port Authorities, our Export Dept. and valued customers for the support,” Mr. Deept said.

Ban on waste paper in China and US-China trade war are the major market drivers for India making supply more than demand and decrease in recovered paper prices domestically. Small paper mills in China have been shut down due to environmental norms.

“We are exporting 110 to 165 GSM paper to China. They require high RCT paper, secondly, the paper must be free from smell, and you must have an effluent treatment plant (ETP) in your mill in order to avoid the rejection. They also prefer joint less paper,” Mr. Deept said.

On the question of anti-Chinese sentiments flowing in India, Mr. Deept explained “Any kind of ban on the export of paper to China will create price anarchy in the Indian market. All big paper mills have to unload their godowns to domestic markets which will lead to the lower realisation of paper price”,

“We have to divert our production to Asian countries in order to retain buoyancy in Indian Market. If we dump our whole production in the domestic market, the price will be crashed and it will more damage the profitability of small paper mills” he said.

Paswara Papers is currently exporting 10 percent of its capacity to overseas destinations. The deckle of the machine is 4.8 meter (Finished). “At present, the waste paper price has come down to INR 10 per kg but weak demand has also decreased the price of paper, 18 BF paper is being sold at INR 19 per kg in India.” Mr. Deept informed.
