Technological Advancement in Paper Raw Materials for Sustainable Operation: IPPTA

Saharanpur, July, 24, 2016: Increasing want of paper in the country which is growing at a rate of 6%-7% annually demands for increased requirement of raw material which is expected to be almost double in next decade. Thus effective processing of these non-conventional raw material viz non wood and waste paper requires technological advancement in handling and processing. IPPTA has decided to have exchange of ideas of Paper industry's dignitaries.

Indian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (IPPTA) is organizing a zonal seminar on "Technological advancement in Pulp Paper making using Agro, Recycled and Other Raw Materials". The seminar is to be held on 4th and 5th August at Chandigarh. Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon’ble Governor of Haryana & Punjab & Administrator UT-Chandigarh will be the  chief guest of the function.

IPPTA's Joint Secretary Mr. Vinay Goyal told to The Pulp and Paper Times that in the present scenario of open market economy, the challenges before Indian Pulp and Paper industry are multifold. On one hand it is facing increasing cost of inputs like energy, chemicals and raw material along with increasing environmental challenges; on the other hand it has to compete with international market in respect to product quality.

Mr. Pavan Khaitan MD of Kuantam Paper while sharing his view before seminar said Paper Mill is the only industry which generates its own raw material through natural resources. No other industry does so. It is thus in the interest of human kinds to encourage its production and usage.

The profile of seminar will include some important issues like Best practices and innovative technological advancements for efficient processing of raw materials, technological advancement in pulping, bleaching, chemical recovery and paper making for cost reduction and quality improvement, development for enhanced recovery of waste paper, technological advancement in waste paper, case studies for energy conservation, opportunities for reduction in fresh water consumption recovery and reuse, issue and challenges in environmental compliance with focus on agro and waste paper based mills, development in automation and process control.
