Q. How automation has become important for paper mills in terms of profitability and productivity?

Paper Industry moved towards automation in the early years of this millennium and has been continuously roaring towards the betterment and deployment of new technologies with an aim to generate more accurate outputs, better ERP systems, robust and highly reliable machine operations. Not only the speeds of Indian Pulp & Paper Machines has increased during past years but the demand for accuracy and more flexibility has increased as well. Various divisions of paper manufacturing like pulping, cleaning, paper making, and utilities have all started communicating digitally with each other so as to make the process being driven more feedbacks and actual parameters rather than being operated on set recipes.

The smart age manufacturing being more aware of global standards with the advantage of IIoT has been getting efficient day by day with less human intervention required.

The profitability and productivity were dependant on the management team and their working methodology, but now automation topology and scalability are proving to be equally important. 

Q. How Vrinda Automation has scaled up its skill in handling automation projects, which requires high accuracy and customer satisfaction?

One factor Indian paper industry has always been adamant to is the Brand that is delivering the solutions, but now after a lot of hard work we have been able to convince the customers about flexibility which is available in the market and the integration that is possible across various available platforms in this digital age.

Delta Electronics India is the key OEM whose solutions are being deployed to enhance production flexibility with a wide array of hardware and software solutions. Unlike earlier automation solutions wherein only operations were being handled using a control desk, we are now fully equipped with complete energy management, power quality controllers (to ensure low equipment failure) and energy-saving solutions which are our main target for customer satisfaction.

Q. How would you co-relate Industry 4.0 to Automation in the present scenario?

Industry 4.0 is the automation of traditional machines and we are very well carrying this task. With automation of standalone lathe machines in paper industry workshops to a full range of automation solutions which cover boilers, power plants, pulp mills, and effluent treatment plants. Solutions customized to site needs are the key feature.

Q. Tell us about your current automation projects and orders in hand?

At present we are working on the automation of 3 full paper machines and a power plant in Moradabad, another power plant in Gautam Buddh Nagar, and various other projects going on in the State of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and several other projects in the corrugation and packaging industry in various states.
