250 TPD: Shree Pawan Kraft to set up a well equipped high RCT paper manufacturing facility at the gateway to North East region

The Indian economy is growing and so is the Paper Packaging industry. As growth rides on increased industrial production and international trade, demands on package converters have become more intense and sophisticated. Indian FMCG sector is growing at a rapid rate due to strong demand from a large and growing middle class. As a result, the packaging industry, growing by more than 15 percent annually, will likely increase demand for corrugated boxes, leading to increased demand for kraft papers, and the key raw material.

“Rising adoption of bio-degradable corrugated box packaging by various industries such as FMCG, food & beverage and pharmaceuticals industries is providing unmatched opportunities for the kraft papers manufacturers in North East region to grow and diversify their portfolio. Apart from this, High RCT kraft paper segment by type is anticipated to capture a remarkable growth post-COVID 19,” said Mr. Rajesh Mittal, Director at Shree Pawan Group. 

Exclusively Talking to The Pulp and Paper Times, Mr. Rajesh Mittal revealed the plan about setting up a mega-capacity paper plant at the heart of North East India. “We are happy to share our development regarding the paper mills, North East region is developing fast for corrugated packaging also, and Gawahati is very strategic location to cater the demand of local corrugators and as well as export gateway to Bangladesh, Bhutan and other nearby countries. 

In the name of Shree Pawan Kraft paper mills llp, the new mill is being set up at kamalpur. In January 2021, Assam’s Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary laid the inspiration stone of kraft paper mill and polypipes unit at Kamalpur, Baihata Chariali.

“We were looking to invest in a product which is sustainable and eco-friendly to environment and paper manufacturing fulfil our both requirement. We are excited to be a part of Indian Paper Industry and plastic eradication drive in the nation. We are expected to start the commercial production of 250 TPD double wire kraft paper machine in March 2022,” Mr. Mittal informed.

Shree Pawan Group has planned to invest Rs. 160 Cr in producing the quality high RCT paper. “We will engage best paper technology supplier in order to supply superb quality paper to the packaging industry and to emerge as an established name in export and domestic market for quality paper,” Mr. Mittal said.

The new paper mill will have a finished deckle of 3.85 meters and is planning to manufacture paper under 100 to 350 GSM range with 18 to 32 BF suitable for box, paper bag and Corr making. 

“To improve the pulping section, we are going to install an advanced hot disperser unit also. We have placed the order for 320 TPD pulp mill and hot disperser to Parason Machinery. Parason machinery has long experience in manufacturing pulp mill segment and installed numerous pulp mills section in India and aboard,” said Mr. Mittal.

Paper mills will have a dryer, press, pressurized head box, and wire part from China, while framing of the machine is to be done by DS Engineer. Waste water treatment plant will be installed by Ishan Paryavaran.

Mr. Mittal further informs that, we have completed the earth filling and piling work, now working upon the ground beam and civil construction will be in full swing for next two to three months. The erection of machine is scheduled to be started after the rainy season.

Expansion on PM-2:

Shree Pawan Kraft has also planned in advance to set up a separate line for High BF kraft paper manufacturing in future. “We have made the provision for PM-2 and accordingly installed the pulp mills for future requirements. We have already constructed a shed for PM-2.
