A New Paper Mill Starts Kraft Paper Production in Hosur

The rise in the per capita income, urbanization, and transformation in lifestyle habits is leading to larger offtake of packaged products, growth in e-commerce, demand for ready to eat food and organized retail is leading the growth in packaging board and Kraft paper segment.

“For the Indian paper industry, strong domestic economic growth has been accompanied by equally robust demand for paper. There has been growing awareness about the environmental hazards of single-use plastics and its growing volumes. India has also agreed to phase out the single-use plastics and many states have already imposed a ban on the use of such material. This is going to be a major demand booster for the packaging industry in the near future,” explained by Mr. Kantilal Patel, Managing Partner of Om Paper Mill a newly started paper Mill in Hosur

“We are feeling proud to have become part of the Indian Paper Industry. I think, paper Making is a very natural process with no hazardous substance. It turns your recyclable waste into a very 'creative' product i.e paper,” Mr. Patel described.

“We have started 80 TPD kraft paper production on double wire machine in the region, with GSM range of 100 to 180 and BF is 12 to 22. We are glad to have maintained the desired quality of paper required by corrugators for the manufacturing of carton boxes. Our target is to sell 80 percent paper in the domestic market and rest for the overseas destination,” Mr. Kantilal told.

Om Paper has signed JMC Paper tech from Ahmedabad for supplying and designing of complete plant and machinery. “We are happy to have associated with JMC Paper Tech; they understood our requirement and design the machinery accordingly. It's a completely automatic plant with all critical components. Our finished deckle of the machine is 3.1 meter and speed is designed at 180 m/min,” Mr. Patel informed.

Mr. Kanti further said “We have invested INR 30 Cr. in the land, building, Plant and Machinery, hoping to get a good return on our investment. We are already an established name in the packaging industry. In and around Hosur, we are supplying wooden packaging to all major industries. So we have a ready market for us,”

The packaging Board Kraft paper having about 52% market share is the fastest-growing segment and is likely to grow at 8-10%.
