Buoyancy in Paper Bag consumption attracts Devashray Paper to set up 200 TPD Kraft Paper mill

The 'brown Revolution' has opened its wing across India. The fight against single-use plastic and increasing sense for using recyclable packaging material have boosted the Kraft Paper manufacturing in the country. “To replace conventional plastic bags, paper bags need to be strong, durable, printable and food-safe. Our Kraft paper is all this, making it packaging material that is a functional and sustainable first choice for bags of all sizes,” explained by Mr. N.D. Desai, Managing Director at Devashray Papers (India) LLP.

Coming up with 150 to 200 TPD Lighter GSM Kraft Paper Plant at Khade District in Gujarat, Mr. Desai said “Buoyancy in paper bag consumption is opening up more demand way for high strength Kraft paper in the country. Faced with polluted oceans and a plastic mountain in grocery stores, people all over the world are looking for alternatives to single-use plastic. Paper bags are a natural choice. Made from 100% recyclable, our kraft paper for bags is both strong and resilient,”

“After researching the Market Trends, Corrugation requirements and Export market scenario, we have decided to bring our high strength and lighter GSM Kraft paper in the Market. Our state-of-art manufacturing facility will aim to manufacture 60 to 150 GSM paper of higher BF. We have arranged to invest INR 55 Crore for the entire project, which is expected to be commercially operated by December 2019,” Mr. Desai informed.

Several aspects are responsible for the growth of the paper bags market. Factors such as a highly active retail sector in developed economies, increasing innovation in product design, growing penetration of the retail sector in emerging markets, strong consumer confidence rejuvenating retail sales, increasing PPP projects leading to increased demand for paper bags for construction and rising demand for on-the-go retail food are triggering the growth of the global paper bags market.

Devashray Papers will source most of plant and machinery as well as other components from N.K.R. Engineers, a prominent manufacturer of paper mill machinery in Gujarat. “The QCS integrated paper mill will be having 4 meters deckle (finished) and speed is designed at 500 m/m,” Mr. Desai Informed.

The New paper mill is eyeing to export 50 percent of its production to a foreign market, also it will provide 150 direct employment in the region.
