Spento Papers to Come up with 300 TPD four wires Coated Duplex Board Capacity

Paperboard packagings have become an important application for the market. Consumer attitudes for the products have come down to two simple factors such as emotions and trust. “Emotional responses to how products are presented have become a common trend in today's packaging industry. Duplex board is a recycled paper board that is used for export purposes. And also used in a wide variety of packaging applications such as folding cartons, beverage carriers, book and report covers to name just a few. Our Coated Duplex board will bring an extensive variety of quality grades to choose from including a growing selection of weights, textures, and finishes, Mr. Nishith Patel disclosed to The Pulp and Paper Times.

Situated at Sartanpur Road, Morbi, Gujarat, Spento Papers has forayed a massive investment for producing 300 TPD coated duplex board in the range of 180 to 450 GSM on four wires machine setup. “Right from the conceiving of the project, we were very clear about the quality of paper and technology to be used for production. We choose to import the entire plant and machinery from Chinese' pioneer paper machinery company. The entire plant will work in a highly automatic environment and keep a close watch on the standards of quality of board. It is a completely turnkey project and we are expected to roll out our production from February 2020 onwards. 

Spento Papers has invested around INR 40 Cr. for producing various grades of the duplex board like LWC,    HWC, White Back and White Kraft Liner Paper. “Duplex Board market is growing in a sustainable way, the products are used in a wide range of application segments viz matchbox, shoes box and ceramics packing carton. In Morbi, Ceramics industry has huge potential to absorb the coated duplex production. The coated duplex is a key material for the production of the inner box. Coated and calendared on one side, it provides a white and smooth surface really suitable for offset printing,” Mr. Patel said.

“We are expected to export our 80 percent production to the foreign destination. After performing the detailed market study, we very carefully choose the products which are to be manufactured. We have wide deckle of the machine which is 4.2 meter and speed will be around 550 to 600 m/min.    

The new paper mill has all the provisions to follow the environmental norms. “We have installed the ETP plant in the premises. Also, a turbine for producing 700 KVA electricity has been put in place. 

According to Care rating, Packaging Paper & board segment Cater to industries such As FMCG, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, textiles, etc. Demand for Packaging Paper & Board segment is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.9% and reach 9.7 million tonnes in FY19 due to factors such as increased urbanization, the requirement of better quality packaging of FMCG products marketed through organized retail, and increasing preference for ready-to-eat foods.
