Power Paper to Come up with a Modern Manufacturing Facility by 2020

Gujarat has dominated India's corrugated box market. Gujarat dominated on back of the growth in FMCG and pharmaceutical sectors in different regions of Gujarat, therefore, increasing the demand for corrugated boxes. “India corrugated box market is in its growth phase. Though the craft papers prices are increasing the demand for sustainable and safe packaging of goods is also increasing, therefore, new players are entering the market, says Jagdish Patel (2nd person from right), Partner of Power Paper Mill LLP.

Situated in Rajkot, Power Paper is pumping around Rs. 40 Crore in manufacturing Kraft paper for packaging purposes. “The Indian economy is expected to pose good growth therefore FMCG and Pharma sector will consume more corrugated boxes. This upward trend is already visible in the shape of more paper production in Gujarat. We are expected to commercially operate a 125 TPD modern paper mill by mid-2020,” Mr. Patel explained.

We have completed the acquisition of Land, and construction of the building has been started on the site. Plant and Machinery are very important to us as we look forward to give the quality paper to corrugators. Soon, we will zero on the machinery supplier's name. We will procure all the machinery from India itself and it will be a fully automatic plant with all modern components,” Mr. Patel informed.

The FMI study finds that sales of test liners are expected to grow at a higher rate over other liner types. The demand for unbleached testliner is expected to grow at 4.8% in 2019. Aligned with the recyclability trend, recycled fluting medium will be highly sought after in the coming years.   

Power Paper is aiming to produce 80 to 300 GSM paper with 12 to 22 BF. “We want to give a good GSM rang to our corrugators for making boxes. Also, our paper mill will provide 500 direct employments in the region,” Mr. Patel said.

“We have chosen the machinery deckle which to be 4 meters and speed will depend on the GSM however it will hover around 250 m/min,” Mr. Patel said.

If we say Power Paper a semi Export oriented unit that won't be out of the blue. “Yes, we have targeted our 50 percent paper production for export. Next year China is going to ban waste paper import to its soil, therefore the demand for paper has to surface. We will export our paper to China and African countries on a quality basis. 

Power Paper is will also have ETP plant for the compliance of Environmental norms.
