To strengthening and sustaining the connection between the paper institute, alumni, and pulp & paper fraternity, Association of Pulp & Paper Technical Alumni – APPTA, a 690 plus Pulp & Paper Tech Alumni formation conducted its 5th Industry Webinar on stock preparations & Paper Machine operations on 1st May. This was the 2nd Webinar of the Best Practices Series focusing on various aspects of stock preparations & Paper Machine operations.
This webinar was mainly focused on some of key elements of screening basics followed by troubleshooting and best practices in Paper machine-like LOTO, shade matching, and trimming squirt adjustments. Apart from the main topics it also covers key-note speakers on the interesting topics on applications of Micro Crystalline Cellulose in various industries.
APPTA president & session co-moderator Mr. Raghavendra Hebbar – President APPTA , Head (Tech & Development) JK Paper Ltd shared his views on the current practical aspects of paper making and cheered the presenters for sharing exemplary knowledge with the alumni and other external guests. The President also briefed the APPTA members about future initiatives planned by APPTA for the betterment of the professionals & the Paper Industry.
Session moderator, Mr. CB Naik. - Sr Consultant, Alof Hansson, set a perfect start up tone for setting the paper right stressing on the importance of stock preparation & Paper Machine Ops in making the right.
Mr. Brijesh Bhutki – Production superintendent, Ittihad Paper Mill, Abu Dhabi, UAE, was generous to share the on-field experiences on Paper machine Quick Startup, broke management during machine disturbances, rectifying bad edges and importance of online shade matching.
The webinar was hosted by Mr. Ishan Dholakiya, Business Development Manager – Minerals Technologies Inc. graciously welcomed the group of seniors, peers, and junior alumni who conducted the program well with a safety briefing and some insights on international labor-day.
The alumni had a privilege to witness the key-note presentation on Cellulose for Circular future through Micro Crystalline Cellulose (MCC) by Mr. Olli Kähkönen- CEO of Nordic Bioproducts Group. The paper threw light on various applications of MCC by Altocell™ tech in pharma, food, cosmetic and other industries.
The group well received the detailed concepts of screening methodologies and latest innovations with few case studies by Mr. Rajeev Chandraghatgi- RSM Asia Pacific Aikawa Fiber Technologies (AFT). Rajeev talked about the selection & operation of screens for different applications.
