New Paper Mill Commences Production of Poster, Tissue and MG Kraft Paper with Rs. 75 Crore Investment

The Pulp and Paper Times

Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: The Indian specialty paper market is witnessing increasing demand as paper manufacturers and converters respond to changing requirements across food packaging, retail, printing, wrapping and hygiene applications. Within this segment, MG Poster paper, Tissue paper and lightweight MG Kraft paper are emerging as important grades, supported by demand for functional, lightweight and cost-efficient paper solutions.

Strong demand from the food and packaging sectors is driving significant expansion in the Indian paper industry, with MG Kraft, poster and tissue paper segments witnessing increasing demand from the market. To capture the growth opportunities in these specialty paper segments, Raghav Paper Mills, situated at Tehsil Dhaulana in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, has commissioned a new paper machine dedicated to the production of MG Kraft, poster, tissue and Color & light GSM MG Kraft paper.

Talking to The Pulp and Paper Times, Mr. Arvind Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, Raghav Paper Mills, said, “It is a very proud moment for us to associate with the paper industry as a paper manufacturer. Today, we have commissioned a state-of-the-art machine of 70 TPD dedicated to producing MG Poster, Tissue, colour and light GSM MG Kraft paper in the range of 18 to 60 GSM.”

Sharing the development, Mr. Gupta, said that the achievement reflects the hard work, teamwork and technical expertise of the entire team.

According to Mr. Gupta, the successful production of the first paper reel is a proud moment for the company and represents an important step towards achieving operational excellence and maintaining consistent paper quality.

The milestone marks the beginning of the company's production journey and highlights the efforts of its technical and operational teams in bringing the new facility into operation.

The new machine will enable the company to manufacture a range of specialty and lightweight paper grades catering to growing market requirements across packaging and other end-use applications.

Mr. Gupta further explained that the machine is completely made in India. Hardayal Engineering Works supplied the machine sections, while the boiler and turbine were installed by Industrial Boiler Limited (IBL), Vapi, Gujarat. IBL Group is one of the largest steam boiler manufacturers in India. The pulp machinery has been supplied by Parason Machinery.

Raghav Paper Mill has invested Rs. 75 Crore in establishing the manufacturing facility at Hapur.

Meanwhile, Light GSM MG Kraft paper is gaining importance as packaging users increasingly look for lightweight paper solutions without compromising the required strength and functional properties. The grade is particularly relevant for applications where paper consumption, material efficiency and packaging performance need to be balanced. Growth in food packaging, wrapping and other flexible paper-based applications is supporting demand for lightweight MG Kraft grades.

The growth of these specialty paper segments reflects a broader shift in the Indian paper industry towards value-added, application-specific and lightweight paper products. For manufacturers, this is creating opportunities to diversify product portfolios and cater to niche requirements across packaging, printing, food service, hygiene and converting applications.
