Gandhinagar | 5th July 2021 | The Pulp and Paper Time:
With a growing proportion of the planet’s population moving from rural areas into cities, people are increasingly far removed from raw materials and local food supplies. Goods thus need to be packaged and distributed to the cities to an increasing extent. At the same time, there is growing urban demand for prepackaged food, drinks, and consumer goods, along with convenient on-the-go and stay-fresh packaging. In several segments, particularly food and medicines, the packaging is subject to additional quality requirements, including food safety standards.
“We want to be number one food grade kraft paper producer in India and globally and our approach will be to work closely with customers to develop packaging that is sustainable by design, protecting products, meeting customer needs, and minimizing impact on the environment. We will keep all manufacturing standards in order ensure that the kraft paper bags are strong and appealing for customers who are looking for the best shopping experience, both online and in-store,†Said Mr. Piyush Trivedi, Director at a new mill Om Shivay Specialty Paper Pvt. Ltd.
Om Shivay’s new paper machine in Gujarat is dedicated to producing 100% recyclable specialty kraft paper in lighter GSM for shopping bags using a combination of fresh and recycled fibres to prioritise sustainability without compromising on strength. “We have designed our machine for multi-grade paper production like MG poster, MG kraft and some other specialty grade on which we are conducting researchâ€
Situated at Kadi, Mehsana - Gujarat, Om Shivay Specialty Paper is initially aiming to commence production of 100 tonnes per day of food-grade kraft paper by October 2021. The new mill will manufacture 40 to 80 GSM paper with 18 to 32 BF range.
Food grade paper demand in India is increasing with the changing eating habit of Indians. “Our paper will be completely odour-free paper for secure food packaging, We have ordered a high-end waste water treatment (ETP) plant to Krofta Engineering limited,†he said.
Mr. Trivedi says we want to offer converters and brand owners sustainable, 100% recyclable paper for their retail and online shopping packaging. The papers produced on this machine will offer recycled fibre-based products with a natural look, great printability and strength properties, all pre-requisites for food-grade kraft paper shopping bags. We are excited to be rolling out several options from October 2021.
Om Shivay Specialty paper is going to invest whopping INR 40 Cr for 100 TPD paper production, The new paper mill will have mix combination of India and China Machinery, it has bought headbox, suction press, suction couch, dryers, de-watering system from China and Pulp mill section will be installed by Parason Machinery. “We have engaged D.M. Engineers for machine supplying and framing activity†he informed.
The building construction activity at the site has been completed and soon the erection work will be kick-started.
The deckle of the machine is 4 meters (Finished) and speed is designed at 400 m/min.
