Orchid Laminates starts 300TPD High RCT Odour Free Paper Production in Unit-2

Bangalore | 5 Feb 2020 | The Pulp and Paper Times:

Increasing focus on environment-friendly and cost-effective packaging formats are contributing to the build-up of paper bags market through 2029. Consumer preference for sustainable packaging, which is easy to handle and has good strength, will also continue to provide a fillip to the sales of paper bags in 2019 and beyond.

“A system revolving around the consumers with importance given to innovation has helped develop a product to tune in with customer requirements. We at OLPL give prime importance to quality and standards,” Said Mr. Pramod Tantia, Managing Director of Orchid Laminates Pvt. Ltd. (OLPL) to The Pulp and Paper Times.

OLPL has started the production in its 2nd unit at Kiadb Harohalli Industrial Area, Kanakapura Taluka, Ramnagara on 5th Feb. 2020. “We are very excited to have Kraft paper of high RCT value in our product basket. We have been working hard for long to start this huge production of 300 TPD. To make wider use of our paper, we have installed anaerobic flotation reactor (AFR) from Paques, which makes it completely odor-free paper,” Mr. Tantia said.

“Wastewater with fats, oil and grease and/or solids such as proteins and starch, can effectively be treated in the BIOPAQ®AFR. This anaerobic flotation reactor (AFR), with an effective sludge retention system, is an all-in-one system that converts organic compounds into valuable biogas. Wastewater from the food industry is especially suitable. The compactly designed bioreactor treats wastewater with a COD content from 5-70 g/l with vegetable or animal fats at hydraulically short retention times from 1-8 days,” sources from Paques said.

Mr. Pramod further explains “The intensive  contact between the open bacteria flocks and the organic compounds in combination with the biomass retention in the integrated flotation unit is the success factor for this technology,”

OLPL is manufacturing 120 to 300 GSM paper of 16 to 34 BF. “We aim to deliver high-quality products at the right price, which has turned out to become our passion. The same has been possible by making the right use of modern technology, raw materials, and a blend of professionalism. The group is striving to meet new demands by producing products, which meet customer requirements. Today, we are widely acknowledged as a leading quality manufacturer and supplier of coated paperboards as well as decorative high-pressure laminate sheets,” Mr. Pramod explained his vision to us.

“We have installed three press system out that two are jumbo press to make the paper of high RCT. We are aiming to export this paper as it has odour free specification and high RCT value, domestically we will also sell this paper but the primarily overseas destination is our target,” Mr. Pramod further informed.

OLPL has sourced most of the plant, machinery, and equipment like pulp mill, disc refiner, and other critical components from Chine, while framing of machine has been done by D.S. Engineers. The screening equipments are bought from AFT Finland.

The new unit has finished deckle of 4 meters and speed is designed at 400 mpm. The finished products will be widely used for the paper bag and corrugation box manufacturing.

According to the study, growth opportunities for the paper bags market players are picking pace in Asia Pacific, owing to the growth of the industrial ecosystems in the region such as food and beverages, pharmaceutical, and others.

The paper bags are considered as good food contact material. Since paper bags are made up of natural material, no toxics are released when food articles are packed. The APEJ paper bags market offers lucrative opportunities for manufacturers, as it is home to some of the world's fastest-growing industries, the study states.

On the question of the market slowdown, Mr Tantia replied that “I don't think the paper market is going down, we are also in the duplex paper board which has huge demand and market is always there actually.

Obviously, the growth rate in the past six months has been on the lower side but lots of capacity addition is also there. Paper Mills added new capacity because of demand.

OLPL has bought the ETP plant from Ishan Paryavaran Pvt. Ltd. Panchkula. It designs, manufacture, and implements industrial and sewage wastewater treatment solutions in a variety of sectors.
