300 TPD: Gujarat soon to have a New Mega Capacity in Coated Duplex Board
Morbi | 11 January 2021 | The Pulp and Paper Times: The demand for coated duplex board market is primarily influenced by the packaging industry, globally. The paper packaging market consist of 1/4th of the overall packaging market share. Increase in need for eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging increase the demand for coated duplex board. Situated in Morbi, Gujarat, Ambani Paper is coming up in 2021 with a 300 TPD mega capacity of duplex coated board.
Exclusively talking to The Pulp and Paper Times, Mr. Bhavesh said that In India, the consumption of duplex coated boards is more than the production. Every year, the demand is growing by 9 to 10 percent, and we are hopeful that our investment will bring back a good yield to us. We are expected to start the commercial production in September - October 2021.
Ambani Paper and Parason Machinery have recently signed a contract for the supply of 500 TPD pulp mill for former’s duplex board mill coming up at Morbi, Gujarat.
Parason Machinery will be supplying a complete stock preparation line along with reject handling systems to Ambani Paper. The company will also execute detailed plant engineering which will result in higher efficiencies and energy savings for the paper mill.
“We have placed an order with Parason Machinery because of its proven track record. The stock preparation line proposed by them is technically advanced and offer good value to the investment made. Ambani Paper will manufacture 200 to 450 GSM board paper on 3.7 meters (finished) deckle machine, which is to be completely procured from China.

Ambani paper is eyeing on the export market also, “we have also started exporting duplex board paper in order to get in-hand experience,†he said.
Packaging paper & board segment accounts for 52% of the total paper demand in India and is the largest segment in the industry. It grew at a CAGR of 7.8% from 4.3 mn tonnes during FY08 to 9.7 mn tonnes in FY19. Rising urbanization, increasing penetration of organized retail, higher growth in FMCG, pharmaceutical and processed food industries etc. are the growth drivers of the segment.
Disclosing his further expansion plan, Mr. Ambani says, yes, we have PM-2 of kraft paper in the pipeline. Kraft paper is growing multi-folds.
