Illegal strike disrupts operations at Andhra Paper’s Rajahmundry Unit despite Planned Maintenance Shutdown

In a recent development, the Board of Directors of Andhra Paper Limited (APL), a prominent player in the paper and pulp industry, has informed BSE and National Stock Exchange that, operations of the Manufacturing plant situated at Rajahmundry Unit has been disrupted due to illegal strike of the workers called by the workers Trade Unions w.e.f. July 6, 2025.

The Company Management is in discussion with the concerned Trade Unions to resolve the issue amicably as soon as possible and shall provide update on further developments in due course.

However in earlier intimation dated 18th June Andhra Paper has informed about an annual outage (planned maintenance shutdown) in the manufacturing facility at Unit-: Rajahmundry, has been planned from July 8, 2025 to July 21, 2025 (both days inclusive).

The purpose of the annual outage is to carry out planned annual maintenance of equipment and utilities, replacement of obsolete equipment and upgradation of machinery in line with the planned capital expenditure for rebuild and upgrade of Pulp Mill announced on August 26, 2022.

APL said that Reasons for strike is Illegal, demanding higher revision in wages in forthcoming wage settlement with the Management.

Company estimates that the loss of production per day of strike is approximately 520 MT.

“We wish to inform you that we have sufficient stock of finished goods to meet our customers' requirements. Therefore, there will no adverse impact on our supply commitments during the said period,” The Management said in the intimation to BSE date 18th June 2025
