New Delhi: ITC Limited has officially completed the integration of Century Pulp and Paper (CPP) into its Paperboards and Specialty Papers Division (ITC PSPD), marking a significant milestone in the company's paper business. Announcing the development through a LinkedIn post, Sanjiv Puri, Chairman & Managing Director, ITC Limited, said the acquisition represents the coming together of two enterprises united by a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable value creation.
Welcoming the employees of Century Pulp and Paper to the ITC family, Puri stated that the acquisition significantly strengthens ITC's Paperboards and Specialty Papers Business by enhancing scale, reinforcing the company's presence in northern India, and expanding access to key raw materials and customers.
According to Puri, with the addition of Century Pulp and Paper, ITC further consolidates its position as India's largest integrated paperboards and paper business, with the company's total manufacturing capacity increasing by over 50% to approximately 1.5 million metric tonnes.
Highlighting the market outlook, he noted that as India continues on a strong growth trajectory, demand for high-quality paperboards, sustainable packaging solutions, and plastic alternatives is expected to rise significantly. He added that the combined strengths of the two organizations position ITC to capitalize on these opportunities through innovation, operational excellence, and a shared commitment to sustainability.
Addressing the newly inducted employees from Century Pulp and Paper, Puri said their experience, expertise, and dedication would be invaluable in building the next horizon of growth, competitiveness, and value creation. He also expressed confidence about the future, stating that he looks forward to an exciting journey ahead as the combined organization works towards shaping a stronger and more sustainable future together.
In a separate message announcing the integration, ITC PSPD described the development as "Turning a New Page, Together," calling it the beginning of an exciting new chapter as Century Pulp and Paper joins the ITC PSPD family.
The company said the coming together of two respected organizations strengthens its ability to serve customers, foster innovation, and create lasting value. While the combined capabilities have expanded, ITC PSPD emphasized that its commitment remains unchanged—delivering trusted quality, continuity, and partnership at every step.

Aditya Birla Group has sold Century Pulp and Paper to ITC Limited for Rs. 3498 crore. The sale, carried out through a slump sale route, enables Aditya Birla Real Estate to focus on its real estate endeavors. ITC, a major player in the paper industry, was the preferred buyer due to its significant market presence.
CPP is a one-of-a-kind asset with a strong strategic fit with ITC’s Paperboards & Specialty Papers Business. The acquisition will immediately add significant scale and economies to existing operations with potential for further capacity expansion, provide locational advantage for efficient customer servicing and proximity to key raw material sources, mitigate operational risks through multi-site operations and enhance resilience across industry cycles through portfolio diversification. The Business expects to drive structural improvement in profitability of CPP through several value unlock interventions such as capacity debottlenecking, product quality upgrade, efficiency improvement leveraging TPM/Digital initiatives, supply chain optimisation, overhead rationalisation, and procurement efficiencies.
ITC’s Paperboards & Specialty Papers Business is a reputable player in the industry offering a wide range of products manufactured at its four world-class facilities with an annual throughput of over 1 million MT. The Business is an exemplar in sustainability with over 50% of its energy requirements met from renewable sources. The integrated nature of the business model is a key source of competitive advantage for the Business besides creating a significant economic multiplier. The key elements of the business model comprise access to sustainable and cost-competitive fibre chain, in-house pulp manufacturing capability, world-class product quality, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, strong sales and distribution network, increasing digitalisation across all nodes of operations along with robust forward linkages with the Company’s Education & Stationery Products and Packaging & Printing Business.
